UK child tax benefit for baby born outside uk
Anyone have experience with this......
my 13 month old son who's born in Canada but will be coming back to the UK with me on a UK passport... how would we get child tax benefits? Would it be as simple as initially registering him with HRMC in order to get a national insurance number.
Thanks in advance

Assuming you are moving back to the UK to live, this might help:

We claim Child Benefit (child allowance or whatever they used to call it) for Dd who is 9 and was born abroad, I had to send in her birth certificate and passport as ID and all the paperwork and they pay it monthly into a savings account. I was pretty simple really

You are only issued a National Insurance number just before you turn 16. You should get him a NHS number however. Your GP will normally do this for you when you are registered with them for the first time.
