Take over a huge bag cheese curds (freeze before leaving Canada) along with 10 cans of poutine sauce (available from the dollar store & a year supply of Lucky Charms cereal.

Coming back to Canada I always find cheese in 100g blocks good to bring back. Can be sourced for about a (pound or so) $1.80 - $2.20 range (chesire my favourite) & yes you can bring in a lot of cheese according to the CBSA website 'I declare'

hahahaha

Proper cheese is one of the things that I expect to find more cheaply in the UK.

Cheese curds, poutne and Lucky Charms....I'll leave them here for the people who really need them.

that was because of my incorrect title. I was thinking about malt loaf in Canada and concluded I had never heard of it. When the penny finally dropped on my idiot head, I realized people were talking about those little oblong sticky loaves that, when toasted and slathered with butter, salted IMHO, are so good you hope there are a lot of people to help you eat it.

You know, I think it might go quite well with a nice crumbly bit of Cheshire!

Oooooooo I will do that freeze the cheese curd thing, but I'll buy packets of St Hubert Poutine Gravy (easier to travel with than cans)... That was GOOD advice!!!! thanks!! (Still don't know what malt loaf is even after Wombat's excellent description... It sounds... Yummy? But what is it? What dies it taste like???

well, after reading there are folks who do not know what 'KD or Malt loaf' is... this has made my week a total befuddlement.

Of course it could be just 'wind-up Friday'

Of course I know what Kraft Dinner is! I'd just never heard it referred to as KD. I've never eaten it but I've seen the tacky adverts. I can't imagine why anyone would eat it, frankly, but I feel the same about cupasoup and pot noodle.
