Default Moving money from SA to UK

Hello everyone,

We are exploring ways least minimal ito costs to move money from SA to the UK (Scotland)

All the Scottish banks require us to be there in person to activate the account...

My husband and I might be landing separately so an option is that he moves, opens and activates the account and while I am in SA - I move the money via EFT to his new account?

Other banks such as invdestec, and hsbc dont really have much ATM's available - so this also might be abit of a hassle at first...

Any advice in terms of how we can do this?

Also on financial immigration - I assume only once citizenship occurs, financial immigration from your home country can take place?

Thanks

If you can open an HSBC from abroad, I don't see any issue in terms of ATM's available. You can usually use other ATM's free of charge and if you're not happy with HSBC, then just open a new bank account in Scotland when you're there.
