Default Moving a cat from US to UK

Hi, I have just got married to my wife in the US and now are about to go through a spouse visa to move her to the UK with me. However she has a cat who we need to move here too.

Does anyone know th process or been through the same thing? Really not sure how to go about this and google searches just seem to confuse me.

Hope someone can help! Thanks.

I am putting some links for you to read. One important tip, the cat needs to be chipped Before the rabies vaccine ( and it has to be ISO standard chip that is readable in Europe) the US chips can be different and in which case you wiould have to supply your own reader attached to the cat crate which just complicates things. 21 days must elapse after the vaccine before travel. They will have a Pet passport showing all this by a registered vet.

You cannot fly a pet into the UK inside the airline cabin. They go in a specail area in the hold that is heated and pressurized for them. Dont worry they are in a quiet place and its less stressful for them. You get a special IATA compliant crate. You can fly them into Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. THen they are cleared through the Animal reception centre where the chip is read and everything checked. You can use a specialist pet shipping company who will guide you or try and do it yourself.
