Moving back to the UK from DK
Hi all,
After 10 years of living in Denmark I have decided to move back to the UK. I am currently a Danish citizen, registered here, with cpr number etc. I do still have a current English passport and UK NI Number.
I have a new UK job, copies of the signed contract, which starts 1st March.
I have family back in the UK so could use my brothers address for setting up and registering everything I need remotely.
Is it possible for me to obtain a UK bank account whilst im still here so I can transfer some savings too it and pass on the account number etc to my new employer?
I need to rent a place, will this be a problem? I do have savings here in DK and good credit history here. Likewise, i'll need a phone contract, utilities, broadband etc.
I'm assuming i'll have zero credit history when I move back?
Any help, links and advice would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

There aren't many things you need to or can do remotely. Finding a place to live is your priority as everything will flow from that. Are you able to stay with family until you find somewhere to live? Did you close your previous UK bank account?

Re: Moving back to the UK from DK
We managed to find a place to rent from the USA using rightmove.co.uk.
However, we did have friends who could go view places, and we did have a UK bank account to make payment easy. We had no credit record in the UK but the agent accepted copies of my US pension statements as proof of ability to pay but we still had to pay 6 months rent up front.

It will generally need to be done from the uk. When we moved back we just booked two weeks temp accommodation in Airbnb and that was plenty enough. Within that two weeks we had everything set up.
