Given their situation as in your first post, then they should really look at getting US citizenship for everyone before moving back, this will mean it's simple to return to the US if they should want to.

Not true. They are for people who have a certain amount deposited in HSBC accounts or investment accounts. The amount varies by country but for US/Canada it's $100k.

For the UK it is £50k, and if you have premier status in one country it gives premier status in all countries where you hold accounts.

One benefit of HSBC premier in the UK is free travel insurance world wide provided the trip starts and ends in the UK.
