Default Hoping to move back to the UK from the US

I have no idea where to go with my issue. This is probably going into someone else's thread, sorry about that. My brother just had a heart attack and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It scares me that i might never see him again and also how much i have been missing home in Scotland. I don't have the money to get home as i am disabled in ohio, usa. I have not updated my passport as a matter of fact i lost it in a move years ago and did not get around to replacing it. I am a citizen of britain. How can i get help to go home? I want to spend my last years in my home country. I do have family there i can stay with for a little bit.

Hello and welcome.

I have moved your posts into a thread of their own. I am also moving the thread over to our Moving Back To The UK forum. The people in the MBTTUK forum will try their best to help you.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your brother.

For starters you will at least need your birth certificate.

Then you will have to get a replacement passport as you are currently "passportless" right..

Talk to the family you do have to see if they can have a whip around to buy you a ticket..or liquidate some assets.

Someone will be along shortly to help I'm sure.

Ask your family to pay for your ticket to the UK.

Apply for a new passport.

Sounds like the family might have to pay for the passport too.

To the OP: identify anything/ everything you can sell, that you won't be taking back with you, and sell it.

To give a straight answer to your question, there is no easy place to go that is handing out money to buy an airline ticket to go home. Sorry.

Your first priority would be to obtain a new British passport. Everything else will flow from there. If you're a US Green Card holder then you may also want to consider taking out US citizenship before you leave to give you the option to return at any time.
