Help, too many curve balls. Spouse also has to have job offer?
Hi all,
I have literally been focusing on a 2-3 yr blueprint for moving back and thinking about each step; sell the house ASAP and move into an apartment, pay back debts, save as much as possible, begin to think about how to apply for jobs at the right time (getting in more training here where necessary), talked to TIAA Cref today, trying to understand future 401k>IRA tax issues and I just came to a screeching halt when I read that the non EU spouse has to have a job offer as well paying the 18.6 K, am I correct, or overwhelmed?
I froze.

It's actually the UK sponsor, not the applicant who must have the job offer if they can't meet the financial requirements in any other way (ie savings, income from investments etc)
All the financial requirements in detail here.

It's worth mentioning though, that the rules are constantly evolving and may well have changed again by the time you are ready to apply.

Thanks so much for your response Larrabee. I was reading the Wiki and think I was on info overload!
Great point about the ever evolving rules also. I still have a lot of time sadly so I hope things don't evolve too much in the wrong direction.....
