Hello All, ready to make tracks this Saturday on my way to the UK,
1) picking up BRP car

2) I have acquired about my license exchange have a year to do it, but going to do it asap

3) the General knowledge test ,,,Does anyone one have te link for studying this

If you exchange a full Canadian car licence, your GB licence will cover you to drive an automatic car, with a provisional entitlement for manual transmission. If however, you have passed your test in a manual vehicle you will need to provide documentary evidence of this. This is because the law in Great Britain restricts entitlement to automatic only where a test was passed in a vehicle with automatic transmission.

Manual vehicles may not be driven as a full licence holder unless a further test is taken.
I am afraid we will be unable to return your Canadian licence, as according to the exchange agreement, it has to be returned to the Canadian Issuing Authorities.

Your driving licence should arrive within 3 weeks of us receiving your application. It might take longer if we have to check your medical or personal details. Allow at least 3 weeks for your driving licence to arrive before contacting DVLA.

There's no need to wait six months. You just need to ordinarily resident which goins will be once he collects his BRP.

I suspect no-one has any idea what you're talking about. If you mean the Life in the UK Test then you won't have to take that for another five years but you can pick up a study guide in Waterstones or WH Smith or online from Amazon, etc..

I see. The DVLA site is very misleading then, because it says you need to have had a UK address for 185 days to be ordinarily resident.

Not quite. It asks:

Visitors cannot stay more than six months so it's to stop people on holiday or spending less than half the year in the UK from exchanging their licences. It doesn't stop anyone who is resident from exchanging their licence straight away. goins will need to provide evidence of his immigration status however.

That makes perfect sense, given NHS access rules, but I've long ago given up on expecting different government departments to use the same definition of anything.
