Exchanging back to a UK license - what do you get?
My wife doesn't want to exchange her UK license for an Alberta one as she will only get a class 5 (no motorcycle). She can ride a motorcycle on her UK one.
The question is this. .......If we moved back to the UK, then, under the reciprocal agreement we know she would get a UK license no problem BUT would she get her original "Qualifications" back so she can ride a motorcycle there or would it be lost forever unless she resat a test?
Second reason for not wanting to give up her license is that she can at the moment ride a motorcycle in the US, on her UK license but if she exchanges it she can't.

If your wife passed her test in the UK then she'll get all her entitlements as they are now when she exchanges back.
Make a note of her GB driving licence number or take a photocopy of the photocard before you exchange. If and when she returns to the UK she will simply need to exchange the Alberta licence using Form D1 as normal but there is a box when she can put her GB licence number. She'll then have her full licence reissued as per the DVLA records.
If for any reason you lose your record of the number then phone the DVLA, answer a couple of biographical questions and they'll give it to you over the phone.

Thanks for the info
That's what we hoped would be the case as didn't seem to make sense that you lost it through no fault of your own.........i.e bad driving etc
Thanks again
