But the insurance companies load the premiums against older drivers - they pay twice the risk premium that young drivers do.
Cannot agree with you big.
My sister aged 80 pays £285 fully comp for a Ford Focus.
I am a youngster of 76 and pay £270 fully comp and protected, so in fact pay
less than I did 5 years ago.
B T W, that is for a 3 litre Jag.

He's been reluctant to back up anything he's said so far, so don't hold your breath.

I really think Gozit will find it tough because a) he's young (I think) and b) he hasn't lived in the UK. Most mainstream insurers won't be interested, which means you end up with the specialist ones who can and do charge a substantial premium. Maybe 750 is do-able, but from my recent experience that suggests the car's parked in a garage overnight (not likely for someone looking to rent cheaply), in a good area (ditto) and living with parents (ditto). Those are all factors which the insurers take into account.

Just because you think you do not pay a lot does not mean they are not overcharging you given the low risk of an accident

Why do older drivers pay such high car insurance premiums?

Wow really!? That seems incredibly cheap. I guess here I am forced to buy either the jumbo $5 bag which goes stale because we can never finish the bag or go to Sam's/ Costco to get the box of 24 small bags. The only individually packed crisps you can get are Doritos and lays and they are around $5 for a 6 pack.

A little late but genuinely surprised....

I think there's a lot of competition here and the food prices are good for excellent quality.

PS I took this pic when I first got back and it says special offer, but they're still that price today.

I dont see it as age discrimination I am afraid, I see it as statistics. If one gender lives longer than the other that should be factored in. Always thought it was barking mad that women got to retire at 60 when it was statistically proven that, on average, they lived longer. That is what insurance is about, spreading the risk over a group.

Good to know that prices have not gone up since you arrived. I mean they go up weekly it seems here. My boys won't eat the school lunches so I struggle with price versus non harmful foods. I tell them about our school lunches with pudding and custard after. They want to move for the food alone

Oh how I long for a beef and onion or the walkers sweet Thai chili or prawn cocktail crisp. I like all the smelly ones.

Yeah no problem, I know she was on her parents insurance for awhile but they didnt like that idea very much. I know recently it was changed here so female drivers couldnt be given preferential treatment so their premiums have theoretically increased. Her Dad seemed pretty happy with the cost.

Yeah that sounds about right, some will pay less and some more so £1000 as an average seems about right.
