Managed to find one outside.
Huh? You've never seen one before? ..... They are as common in the UK as here, and if you go outside and pick up any rock, log, or pile of leaves or mulch anywhere in either country, I can almost guarantee that you're going to find one or more. In any case, they are completely harmless to humans.

Nope, not until we moved to this area. Maybe Victorville was too hot and dry for them. I've seen maybe a dozen here in the last 3 months. I've never seen them that big in the UK. I was looking for one yesterday, under things but couldn't find one until I moved a half empty pizza box - and there was just one.

Yeah, what rock has he been living under? .... Apparently the only one in the Western hemisphere without an earwig under it!

Well, maybe some areas are more populated with them than others!

Plenty of other bugs/insects though.

Found a baby lobster walking along a mini golf place last summer, about 10 miles in from the coast and thought the same...it was still alive though

Maybe it was a crayfish? .... Fished out of a pond or creek by a bird and dropped.

Sheesh, Geoff. You got us fired up over scorpions for an earwig? Next round's on you, mate.

I'm not a bloody entomologist! (Yes, I had to Google that to make sure I was spelling it correctly). It had pincers, it was black, it crawled at speed, I don't like it. End of story!

I don't like them either. I used to be afraid they'd crawl in my ears when I was a little girl. Sometimes they'd come out of the tap in the bathroom.
