to all who are thinking of returning!
Some go away and love it, some go away and hate it but for anyone thinking or returning to the uk who's been away a few yrs make sure you really think about what your giving up. Put those rose tinted specs away and see the UK forwhat it really is. I've lived in Oz, come back home, been out and visited, come back home and now i'm going back out again for a few yrs. England certainly isnt the place it once was, believe. There are lots and lots of problems here at the moment especially in London. Houses are very over priced, crime and violence are spiraling out of controll (if your burgled they wont even send an officer out to see you anymore!) Tony Blair and the Labour party are selling the place up the river. The NHS is joke. The building trade is getting SCREWED thanks to these total strokers in govenment and the whole country is overun with foreigners (mostly eastern european) bringing the day rates down to what they were 4 yrs ago in some trades (bricklaying, spreads, chipies, stud partitioners, dryliners) we are heading into recession an the economy is *****ed. This is the reality of life in Britian today. I love the place and it will always be my home but some of the posts i read in this forum are just totaly unrealistic, i dont think we're even talking about the same place. Who could really care less about Tesco's? eh? please. You may not like certain places or things about Oz but dont be too hard on it cos life is far harder here. I wish everone luck with their decisions butmany need to remove the blinkers.

Is your "reality of life in Britain" really the same as everyone else's? I think you need to remember we don't all live the same lives, in the same places, or want the same things.

Re: to all who are thinking of returning!
As someone who has left, then gone back home, left and then gone back home, you of all people should understand the pull to return and homesickness. Anyone who is set to return will not change their mind after reading this. Human nature dictates that we try things for ourselves and learn by our own mistakes...not others mistakes.
Whilst your views of the UK are true for you, please don't assume that it will be the same for all, or that we all have those stupid specs on. I happened to be one of the people that mentioned I miss Tesco's, but that doesn't mean I'm about to leave here purely because of that.
You should remember that you will be a foreigner soon, wonder what the locals in your new country think of foreigners.

I'm guessing your move back didn't work out...
Just like moving out of the UK in the first place, everyone's circumstances and experiences are different... There are many people here that have made the move back and are happy with it... Hope your next move works out this time...

Perth property costs almost trebled since our first move there in 03, philippinos and chinese all moving in to take jobs with fear of them driving down wages for aussies ( nyone see the programme of immigration agents raiding building sites for illegals), cost of health care and violence in Pert hospitals. ( saw fight in the only time we had to wait in hospital between security and drunks). workers in Burswood can ask for security escort back to their cars due to danger especially at the train station. Many aussies say the bubble will burst there soon with huge debts etc. Sunshine and beaches and BBQs dont count for much when skint, the wages are poor in Aus. better education in Aus debatable, cost of living comparable in relation to wages. Its what a person sees and wants to see that determines where they be happiest. every country will have boom and bust. You made your choice, others will make theirs, i spoke to many who would never dream of migrating as they simply do not want to, their choice.

Why do these threads and Groundhog Day spring to mind?
I don't think anyone in their right mind goes back after an extended period away without at least a visit Tony, so the 'movers' have in all probability weighed up what is best fot THEM

I take what I said back, you have no understanding about homesickness at all. Let's hope for your sake you never do.

Look i'm not having a pop at anyone going back, i'm sure i'll end up back home myself one day i'm just saying some of the posts you read about the Uk being the promised land and living in Oz like being in hell are ridiculous and IMO the UK isnt the best place to be at the moment.
I understand people get homesick, been there myself, and for others it just oesnt work out but all the Oz bashing is a bit unnessicary.
BTW thanks for taking an interest in me grayling, chill out.

It's nice where I live, no exploding phone boxes, no burning cars, not many chavs, quite pleasant really.
And Tescos Express is really handy.
