1,People in the UK are MY people,Americans seem to have a rod stuck up their arse and I have a hard time finding people here with a sense of humor

2,I would just love to hang around friends again who don't care what I have got or what I can do for them, everything over here seems to be a buisness deal even friendships, having said that I do have one couple who would do anything at anytime for us if we were in need but that's rare.

3,The thought of growing old in the states really scares me,there is no catch net,at least in the UK you have always got the NHS,at the rate health ins is going here I will soon not be able to afford it $1000 per month it's just not cricket.

4,The older you get the more you realize that the relationships you have with other human beings is far more important than ALL of the following Cars,Boats,Money,Weather,LIFESTYLE,and whatever else it is that floats your boat..........PEOPLE MATTER and basically everything else don't matter at all.

5,I would hate to die in the states,my home is the UK those are my people and that's where I want to die and be laid to rest,God please don't let me die here

As for sanity, I lost mine when I boarded the time capsule to here.
Oh well, I used to joke as a kid about wanting to travel back in time.
I wish, the thing is he was not bothered about coming here, I had a nice life in Surrey a nice house, But we/I thought ,why not its a life changing experience and to be honest I pushed him, but I have not settled since arriving,
He has said he does not want to stay here forever which makes me feel better but maybe just get citizenship for the Kids,(another 14/15 months) But he has said he is not ready to go back to the UK just yet, also he was offered a position in Gibralter and now is deciding if to take it or stay here for the cit-ship.

Nightmare or what

Me I would be happy to go to Gib/Spain as it means I can go home on a regular basis, but I do understand when he says we have come all this way, left our House, Family and friends, jobs, all the heartache we have gone through and we will have come away with nothing.

Sometimes wish I could turn back time, I am like a rollercoaster of emotions

good luck with your move, very envious

Similar story to mine Sandra. Had no real reason to emigrate really from Uk, just a whim of mine from an early age. Sold up, gave up and lost it all. I mean, how daft can one get? I wouldn't go to the casino and bet my house away, so why did I do it to come to NZ???
We could have got NZ citizenship in July 2005, but I saw the price and thought 'why bother' I dont want it now, and after the experience here, I dont think I will ever want it anyway. It means nothing to me. Personally if I never saw NZ again, it would suit me!
Dont mean to make you jealous, its very very sad being somewhere you dislike and having to stay a certain time period. We had to do it for our eldest son who wants to stay here (for now) and had to wait till he is 18. So, know how you feel.
Good Luck, will be thinking about you.

not really a reason to return but something I was thinking about in that vane is the winter fairs have been to notts goose fair several times an amazing thing .but use to go to several in the villages around me and the difference is amzingto the "shows " here .rides in the fairs was £1-£1.50 here there $4-6 and some even more ! the smell of mushy peas ,cockles ,burning diesel from the gens or the smell of dirty fat and dag wood dogs just some thing I was thinking I'll stop now

Not quite the same atmosphere but if you get hot cinnamon donuts from Donut King they taste just as nice as I remember the ones from back home.

My lot will not touch the cinnamon ones. I don't mind them, in fact, I'll eat any kid of doughnut!

The smell of them cooking in those vans, then walking along, on a cold day through the fairground, eating them hot out of a bag...mmmm.. heavenly!

i had a really fab day, until last thing tonight when someone said it was "disgusting how they bring people in from the UK to take jobs away from the poor Australians". I sometimes wonder why I bother trying to fit in here, evrey time I take one step forward in the "fitting in and enjoying it" stakes, I get pushed two steos back.
