Wife driving KSA registered car in UAE
We are soon going to do our first road trip from Riyadh to Dubai. I was wondering whether my wife (with UK driving licence) will be allowed to drive our Saudi registered car in the UAE. I would hope so, but I am not sure about the insurance cover. Also, is there anything specific to note when going through the border by car? E.g. documentation to have on hand, etc?

don't you need an NOC from your saudi insurer to 'allow' you to drive the car in the UAE and also be covered for insurance?

You will need your Istemara - that about it in terms of car documentation other than your usual travel documents.
Depending on when you're travelling, the border crossing might take a while with the Eid Holidays and everyone leaving KSA for a few days.

not if you're with Tawuniya. When I took my Saudi car to Bahrain I called Tawuniya and asked them about my wife driving. Interestingly it was a woman who I was speaking to. She paused and said eventually that she didn't know and she'd call me back. A few days later she did so and said that as the insurance was based on the car, not the driver, my wife would be insured for it if she drove it in Bahrain.
