Default Tax advise

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum so please be gental.

This question probably been posted many times before so I apologise if this is a little tedious.

I'm am currently working out in qatar, I've been here since mid/late February. There is a possibility I'll have to come home and probably leave my job in Qatar due to some personal issues back home in the UK.

Can someone please give me some advise with regards to tax if I return to the UK? It is my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) that because I wouldn't have completed and entire tax year, the UK government are entitled to tax me on my earnings in Qatar, is this correct?

Any help would be great.

Thanks for the reply. Is the tax paid back through a tax code change or with a lump sum payment?

Probably the former but if a larger payment is requested you can always ask for time to pay. HMRC will be accommodating as you will be small fry to them.

Hello Westbayrat,

I have known HMRC to agree to 12-36 month payment plans before but obviously it depends on the amount involved.
