Default Surprise, Surprise

Dubai wasn't mentioned....

So it begs the question, if the land of the sand isn't in the top or bottom 10, where is it?

TOP TEN
Vancouver
Melbourne
Vienna
Geneva
Perth
Adelaide
Sydney
Zurich
Toronto
Calgary

Bottom 10 cities
Tehran
Douala
Harare
Abidjan
Phnom Penh
Lagos
Karachi
Dhaka
Algiers
Port Moresby
And could it really be worse than Tehran or Algiers here?

Doh! In the middle.

Perhaps those are the best places according the the criteria of those who compliled the list, but no everyone wants the same thing.

I do get very tired by the negativity of so many people. Dubai isn't perfect, but it's far from a bad place to live.

Very true. I get very pissed off with some things here like the Municipalities Incompetency and other silly paper trail regulations and driving sense etc... and l compare with UK and complain. But what we do not realise is that Dubai is doing well for being only 15-20 yrs into its making. And the people, well, Dubai has its mix of all kinds, but also has its share of quite nice beings!!!

But if Canada & Australia are so great - note their dominance in the top 10 - why aren't more people moving to those places?

I see. Why do they make it so hard? Not as if either country is full.

I do financial stuff, you know. I'm sure there can't be 3 halves of a population.

My head looks lovely though, as I have just had my hair cut.

Most of the locals working in my office have Canadian passports. One guy in Riyadh did try to explain to me why, but I wasn't interested so switched off.
