Souvenirs
Im on my way out and i was wondering what souvenirs to take from here. (doha)
I was thinking on getting big classy decorative hooka, but all ive seen is generic chinese that I could buy anywhere.
What would you bring back home from here?
Also what would you buy here cause its way cheaper than back?
Thanks

Re: Souvenirs
Your health and a bag full of cash are the only two souvenirs you need.
Why you leaving, where you headed?

Definitely not the Persians. Those are always cheaper in Europe / USA / Australia than here where it's grossly overpriced. And the range is much better back home too.
Afghans are better deals but not good quality. Pakistani rugs are probably the best buy in terms of value/quality.

A couple of nice photographs of places you have been? Properly framed they make a nice souvenir.

Probably by a carpet salesman
Truth be told, the persians here are not the persians you find at home. The Arabs prefer a different type of Persians and it's very fussy, pretentious and ostentatious and new. Westerners prefer older more tribal Persians.
Either way, buying a rug here is a daft thing to do because you will find the same rug in the UK at, oh, maybe half the price you can haggle down to in the shops here.
