Re: Oman Visa run
Have you actually been to Immigration and asked, as it does not sound as if you have....you will be surprised at how helpful they can be if you explain the situation and call them sir and be a little humble....take her along with you and tell her to start crying on your cue...bet you have an extension sorted in 20 mins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Oman Visa run
I think this is the key point: if she needs a visa in advance to fly then how can she get a new visa at the land border having left the country? Once she leaves she may need to wait 30 days before being able to re-enter - this is the case, for example, for Indians and Chinese: plays havoc with scheduling meetings with colleagues on busy projects... The visa run works for those who get UAE visa on arrival but I can't see how it can work if a visa in advance is required.
I think getting an extension from the immigration people while she is still in the country may be your only option...

We could have got a 90 day visa originally but we didn't (as she was told by the UAE Embassy it was no longer the best way) and now extending the 30 day one isnt allowed.
I think our best way now is going to be to apply for a new Visa that will be delivered to the airport. She just needs to fly out and back same day on a cheap flight to somewhere.
On a side note, does anyone know if there is a 10 day grace period on the 30 day visa? If she flies out and back 5 days after the existing visa expires will that cause any problem when she re-enters on the new visa?

You are right. Her + wife + baby together, with plenty of patience and humility. We'll try it again and see if they can help.

Have you looked at the web site for - Go Tours? They do the bus day return to border - usually Hatta twice a day for Visa renewals from Dubai Marina Mall and have a lot of information - or you could phone them as they may be able to tell you what she needs.

She will need to go to Oman (Hatta), stay at the border for 2-3 days in a hotel until they process the UAE visa and then return.
GoTours were not keen on taking her as she doesn't speak any English so might not be independent enough. But we don't have another option at this point so will have to convince them!

Will she be able to stay at Hatta? It's in Dubai, not Oman. Once she leaves Dubai and enters Oman at the Wajaja border post, how can she return to Dubai without a visa? The nearest place to the border to stay in Oman is Shinas.

Re: Oman Visa run
In the end we used a company here in Abu Dhabi. A driver will pick her up today, drive her to a hotel in Oman (near the Al Ain border) and they will then apply for a new visa for her while she stays in Oman.
All being well we've been told she will be there for 2-3 days before coming back.
Fingers crossed.

Well I hope it all works out, but just keep an eye on them re getting the Visa, as 2-3 days could end up being longer if you do not push them hard!
