Hi all,

After a few tentative posts on here and a few interviews, i've finally taken the plunge and taken a job in Abu Dhabi.

I'm a quantity surveyor, 30 yrs old
I'm coming out here on my own and seeking some 'on the ground' info about Abu Dhabi....

Anyone living there give me a quick low-down??

After next week I will hopefully be in the same boat, I work for a QS company but am a different type of consultant.

As for fast cars, if you just want a bit of grunt then you can't go wrong with the Chevy Lumina SS Coupe. Basically a Vauxhall Monaro (think Holden) with a 5.7 litre V8.

Goes like stink and is stupidly cheap (when compared to the UK). Might not draw the ladies as well as a Porsche though.

Personally I'll be after a 4x4, need one to carry all the diving gear and get to those remote beaches up West (or in Mussandam).

Benz - your into diving? that one of the first things i intend on doing when i get out there - need to get my license first though
