I know the guy personally and he isn't the type to get mouthy or anything. I actually am inclined to think that he is in a prison somewhere as I don't think they have sent anybody 'physically' in to check the cells.

Ethos - the Burj one was that the Brit (allegedly) attacked someone else I thought? Then died of natural (!) causes while in custody....

Also - I hear what you are saying re: wasta but do you think a drunk Brit guy after 2am is going to bump into high level wasta? Possible but really unlikely....

Really think hospital or the nick is more likely - though if prison and officials have approached them and he is there and they've not found him or denied it then there is something going on....

As no other news - must tend to think this will turn out ok - but getting odd...

A local radio station, Dubai92, has posted the missing persons poster on its facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

It has been shared by 695 people so far, so the word is getting around Dubai.

Fingers crossed he is found safe and sound.

I have a feeling he is too. I wouldn't want to be the UAE's ambassador in London if it turns out he is there, and they've been denying it the whole time.

If that ends up being the case it will be cleared up with a swift purchase from BAE or Quinetic or similar

Blue cat would they really keep him in a cell for more than a week just for being drunk?
I've told Rachael's uncle that you guys think he is in a cell somewhere and they have informed the police and are hoping to get someone in to physically look for him.

Cannadine,
There have been a lot of cases where people were reported missing and everybody in authority said they knew nothing, only for them to be either in a hospital or in prison.
Some of the stories are really horrendous. I don't mean to scare you or Timmy's family but they really need to understand the mindset out here. They need to insist in the strongest ( but polite) terms that things are investigated and don't let them be fobbed off talking to somebody down the chain of command.
Also have them check the morgues, sorry but I know of somebody who reported their husband missing and 5 days later was eventually informed that he was in a morgue. They had been ringing his phone and nobody answered it...mind you this was in RAK and it was several years ago but even so.....
We have all said that the lead needs to be from the taxi and somebody needs to insist on seeing the ctv footage from the bar. There must be cameras along the route to the port that the police can look at.

We are all willing and praying that he is found safely xxx

Having been on the receiving end of a sentence for drink it works like this.

If you are caught on a Thursday night you are sent to the holding Cells in a local station, Bur Dubai etc etc where you are slung in the cells for 24 hours to *Sober* up. The following night you are interviewed by the police about your actions then put back in cells.

On the 3rd day you will go to *nahabour* (sp) this is the essentially the prosecutors office who will read the charges against you, If there is no interpreter you will go back the following day.

You then either get bail and leave passport or someone else leaves theirs, (this is why if you google dubai prisons most people have a 4 day ordeal, sometimes 5) If you dont get bail you go to the Main Jail, in my case Al Wathba where you wait for the court date, usually a few days.......

Incourt you will get put infront of a sharia *Judge* who listens to the charges and asks if you want to say anything which he wont understand as he speaks no english and the translators are useless (I had a letter written in Arabic to give him). He will sentence you in Arabic and you are sent out unaware of what the hell you got, you then return to jail and wait for someone to findout what fine you got and pay it for you. You are allowed a phone call once a fortnight, but you have to write an arabic letter asking permission which is usually denied even though you got no custodial sentence just a fine. I was lucky I had friends that knew where I was and which court I would go to so they could get it paid and get me out.

So, after 4/5 days he should show up on the radar by now as he would be out the local police cells..............

Dont know if that helps or not, but its an insight to how it works, I hope he is safe and well but I feel there is more to this than we know.

Ok Brit so if he was in prison then we should have heard from him by now as its day 8? Damn, I just don't know where he could be.

Patsy I know they have checked the morgues already but not sure when.
