Maximum Age for Employment

Does anyone know if there is an maximum age limit for employment sponsorship in Qatar and UAE. Found a thread here about the 'retirement' age in UAE being increased from 60 to 65, but not sure if that was just for Emiratis.

Officially 60 but exceptions are frequently made especially in the oil and gas sectors. Getting a visa for someone over 60 is technically the problem but the ministry will ignore it if there are no candidates for a job under 60

It was raised at the beginning of this year to 65. Or was that AD only?

visa needs renewed annually after 60, my secretary will have this problem in July. That's labour law, not sure about the free-zones.

You have completely missed the point if you are employing a 59 year old secretary unless she is like Raquel Welch.

I find that interesting. Is the oil industry staffed by old boys? Why? Are there no suitable 45/50 year olds?

dont know why but know of more than a few companies ( big MNC's) who have struggled to find petrophysicists and geologists under 60 who can do the job, admittedly these were probably pretty specialist jobs but nonetheless they had to get ministry approval to employ them
