I've finally updated my Life in Al Ain series of blogs including GPS co-ordinates for some useful places around the city. Hope it is ok to post here - Al Ain – Useful GPS Co-ordinates | The Desert Diva. Good luck to all the newbies who are heading our way over the summer!

Re: Living in Al Ain
hi guys, I have just joined today and I am looking to get out of this place we all call home.
looking to work in the middle east and having been to Dubai and Abu Dhabi on 2 occasions I fancy the prospect of working over there, I guess this is the norm when it comes to new people coming on to this site.
any information or help in shape of form would be appreciated.
I have an electrical background but I specialise in security cameras and network cabeling
with very good knowledge in fibre optics all areas.
my age I fear isn't on my side but my experience is very good and established with all the relevant paper work to go with it.
thank you for any ideas or leads, by he way I have been looking at other options else where as I am finding the old uk a place I loved and worshiped so much letting me down.
kind regards to all.

Re: Living in Al Ain: where can you sunbathe?
Hi all,
I am moving to Al Ain in a month to teach in a Primary school. I am looking forward to it though I must admit I am a sun chaser and would love to be able to reap some of the benefits of living in a hot country (I am from the UK!). Does anyone know if hotels will let you pay to use their pools in Al Ain? If so is it possible to wear a bikini?
Are there any general public pools that can be used?
Thanks!

yes you can take out a subscription at most of the hotels which will allow you to use their leisure facilities. The Hilton, Rotana, Danat to name just 3.
Yes you can wear a bikini - but not too brief, you will find yourself getting stared at. General pools - afraid not, however if you live in the south of the city there is a very nice pool at the One to One resort and it is 350aed per month to use.
good luck with the move

Moving to al Ain
Hello
my husband will be relocated to Abu dhabi next month , as lecturer they mentioned that we have to live in AD emirate to have our accommodation, I am not sure is it better for us to rent in Al Ghadeer village between AD and Dubai? ( he have to drive around 90 min every day ) or near his new work place in AL ain ? I use to live in UAE 7 years ago , I wasn't a big fan of Al Ain area as I use to live in AD street 5 , also I am afraid I might have no chance to find job for me in AL Ain in ECommerce field , Any ideas or advice please?
I need to ask also about which place the best to live in al Ain? i have no childrens so we thought one bed room apartment,i am searching through websites but its really disappointing any advice about this issue???

Hello there and welcome to the forum.
I've shifted your post from the Welcome Inn over to the Middle East section, as your questions are quite specific to the area, and you're more likely to get a response in here.
Hope it all works out well.

Are you still working for Tawam Hospital?! We would be very glad if you can come with any feedback about your work experiences at Tawam hospital and/or experiences in general to live in Al ain!
Hope to hear from you. Many thanks!

Re: Living in Al Ain
Hello all. Looks like we'll be moving to Al Ain from Qatar at the beginning of next year. Multiple questions but the big one is that I'll need to work in Dubai two/three days a week. Does anyone know of a company that might be able to provide a driver? Time in in the morning will be fixed but I will need some flex on return time (my job involves long and often unpredictable hours).
Any thoughts appreciated!

You could employ your own chaffeur, very cheap wages. Or take a taxi, many taxi companies around including the government one (RTA) Uber, Careem etc. No idea on costs to Al Ain but Dubai Creek to Abu Dhabi (a good 90 minutes drive) is around 250 AED (about 45 GBP). Alternatively you could drive yourself.
