How did you end up here???
and I don't mean in this forum but in the UAE?? I came cos my parents were here - I wasn't head hunted or transferred or anything like that.

One day i was working in the rainy UK, in a busy office surrounded by claims files and the next i was standing in a pile of hot sand with a feather duster ....weird

Didn't like NY (in fact hated it) when OH was there on a short stint, Mumbai/Bombay was definitely not an option. An ex colleague of his suggested Dubai.....a career-suicide for OH but we have the best work-life balance here!

I asked a friend of mine how she ended up here - she said that her husband persuaded her and they would only be here a year - she couldn't really remember as it was 26 years ago!!!

I was bored bored bored of the UK. I've worked abroad before and get itchy feet very quickly. So, one particularly depressing day in Middlesbrough, I sent my CV to an agency and went on holiday the next week in South West Wales (lovely place). A few days into the hols, I had already had 3 or 4 phone interviews and had 3 firm offers for jobs in Dubai. My head was spinning. 2 weeks after the holiday, I was here, and the family followed a month later!
