My husband gets a housing allowance,as a lump sum at the beginning of the year, of which we use a part. I negotiated for very low allowances and opted more in basic ( I couldn't care about my job grade - just wanted a high basic). My new job, I will be negotiating for a near nil allowance and all in the basic.
