Default Help a new arrival?!

Hi Guys,

I landed here in Doha on Sunday morning and could use a little guidance!

Can anybody recommend me a good, affordable tailor for work suits and shirts and maybe a personal trainer too?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Ross

Hi Ross,

I too am a new arrival and would be keen to find a few likeminded folk to share a beer with!
Im 24 and working as a surveyor/engineer.
Im desperately trying to get into kite surfing and some sort of MMA/boxing. I like to go scuba diving but I've heard its pretty rubbish here.

Sorry to hijack your post

Tom

Hi Tom,

No problem, we are in the same boat or on the same kite surf!

Where are you staying?

redacted

Cheers,
Ross

Another recently arrived 31 y/o brit here (just under 2 weeks) and another shameless thread hijack! I'm living what seems a bit 'out of the way' in Msheireb just off Al Diwan St. Can't offer much help on the tailor just yet but I'm interested in some diving and a decent gym, and anything else that doesn't involve walking around in the outdoor sauna!

Feel free to PM me if you fancy meeting up or sharing tips.

Cheers,
Mike

Thats just down the road from me. After speaking to a fellow brit in KFC i've heard the diving here is average at best, but ill still give it a crack. Haven't found a gym yet but as soon as i start working day shifts I'm gonna start mui thai, i met some bloke who leads a class.

Who needs a tailor these days? you can get good affordable suits/shirts in many shops or go to Dubai where you can find cheaper stuff (as I heard)

Dear Mikewot,

My apologies for not noticing your previous reminder. There was no intention to break forum rules.

There's a decent gym called "Al Massa Fitness" down on the corner of C Ring / Salwa Road (Ramada Signal). Plenty of free weights / fitness machines and treadmills etc. Rate is 1500QAR for 6 months and 3500QAR for a year. (You can pay daily too).

I've not seen any MMA training here though i'm sure it exists. There's a kickboxing / muay thai class held at my place Beverly Hills Tower West Bay during the week maybe worth a look
