Wouldn’t say I’m cutting back...however, we frequently travel to UK and bring back as much as possible as it’s cheaper... including Andrex toilet roll...£3 in UK, AED55 here!
I try to never buy clothes or toiletries here.

Not based in the ME anymore but I certainly haven't cut back, in absolute terms I am probably spending a lot more. My job in India is probably the second highest paying role I have had to date.
Through a series of either well chosen roles or random chance (more likely), I have been in a variety of risky locations that have paid well with big bonuses at the end giving me a chance to invest lump sums for income outside of my normal day to day job.
In short take risks, sometimes win big.
Personally in a situation of death by a thousand cuts (salary wise) I'd be more inclined to try make a big change like moving country etc. rather than keeping to belt tightening. Easier said than done I realise.

Have you tried shopping on Souq.com? I just ordered a ton of household items with free delivery for about 40% less then Carrefour.

I haven't cut back , in fact I'm spending a bit more , mostly flights /hotels and A5 Wagyu beef.
If i had to cut back on shit house roll or the odd coffee then the conclusion would be that i should be pushing trolleys around in the local Asda car park.

Not really, although I am really bad for just living life. Spending goes in peaks and troughs, sometimes I have heavy months and am out and about all the time, others I am keeping the quiet life and saving more.

I've spent more this year than ever before.
Fortunately the pay rise has helped.
We are talking about trimming some spending though, just to save a bit more, not because we have to. Guess we're lucky.

I still got to TKMaxx when I'm home. In fact, took the Beemer in for a "service" (effing £302 oil change), part of which paid for a courtesy taxi to wherever I wanted to go, and made a point of specifying the shopping centre which houses TMMaxx, and then coming back with several bags. Told the service guy I needed to shop there to pay for their oil change. (Villeroy & Boch white and red wine glasses at 1/3 of RRP...)

Wasting money is my only gripe. That's hard to cut out completely but it's easy to trim wastage.

Love TKMaxx.
Best place for t-shirts and decent boxers.
300 quid for an oil change is a right piss take though. I'd do it myself for that kind of money.

(And it was 302 quid -- that difference cost me half a champagne flute.)
