Default Friends in high places

Since the turn of the year I've had a couple of issues...

one case of fraud on my credit card value $5k - bank not refunding, amount accruing interest, me at wits' end,

and

one case of lost artwork order value $50

both have now been resolved but only through personal intervention. Sure I'd still be waiting otherwise.

The former by one of the mums I met on the kids rugby tour to Muscat who just happened to be the PA to the bank's CEO who got the sum returned immediately (It's like I have my own real life Meow!!! - not suggesting Meow isn't a real person)

The latter by some di-viking (as opposed to divine) intervention by BE's Norsk after some calamitous customer care in his new venture Desado. All good now thanks Norsk.

Carry on

Can you get Du to stop ****ing ringing me please?

Every month I get the following call:

- Hi is that mr scamp?
yes
- Mr scamp?
yes
- Can you talk?
yes.
- it's xyz from Du, how are you?
fine thanks, you? What is wrong?
- no problem sir, I'm fine too, your bill is due in 10 days and just wanted to remind you.
OK
- do you want to pay now?
No thanks
- Oh, why not now?
I'll pay online like every other time.
- OK sir, is there anything else I can help you with?
err, you rang me.
- Sorry sir?
you rang me, I don't need help.
- Oh.

Infuriating because the whole convo takes about 9 minutes.

HSBC almost every month, sometimes more than once with either:
Did you know you could get another card for an additional cardholder? - Yes I did and if I wanted one I'd ask.
or
We can offer you a personal loan! - As I just cleared the loan in January I don't want one and if I did I would ask you.

Sigh!

I have HSBC's various numbers all saved under "Ignore - HSBC" in my phone.

If you want to see some serious incompetence, try saying 'yes' to something...........

I usually interject half way through the hard sell and say:

me:'I have a nice car for sale - you want to buy it?'
Standard Chartered:'No sir I don't need a car'
Me:'But it's a nice car, Jeep, 40k, 30,000 aed - a bargain'
SC:'But sir I don't need a car, I don't want to buy a car'
Me:'I'll do you a deal, you buy my car, I'll take your loan AND a new credit car'
SC: 'But sir, I don't want a car'

etc etc. They get the point eventually.

It can be quite entertaining for both parties and a break from the usual bank sales conversation.

I still have my car. I don't have a loan or a CC.
