eVisa for Dubai?

eVisa for Dubai?
I'm confused.
Looking at coming to Dubai for the Eid break, travelling ( driving ) from KSA. Some travel sites tell me I need an evisa in advance as I'm a GCC Resident, but others tell me that as I'm a Brit, I just get one on arrival.
Tried looking at the official visa site, but that doesn't seem to be working.
Any advice?

Every time I fly in from Qatar they just let me straight in with no bother, no pre-arranged visa necessary.
