Dubai plans for Sept 2007
My husband is moving to work in Dubai in September. The kids (two teenagers) and I are planning to stay back in the UK, but plan to visit as much as possible (school holidays etc). But, I wondered if anyone could through some light on the "residential areas" in Dubai or agencies to look at for accommodation.

Hi there and welcome!
The first thing 'we' need to know at this end is do you want a villa (may ned the space for kids coming out) or an apartment. Secondly your approximate budget, and thirdly which is the most important bit, location of husbands office. Traffic can be a nightmare

We are looking at a budget of 120-150,000 per annum. I am assuming housing is very expensive and I have heard in some cases you are asked to pay a year in advance! mmmmmmm a little concerned about the the driving situation too.

Same road as Dhow Palace Hotel - not sure of the name of the road or street. (Just looked up the hotel website - Bank Street). Hope this helps

ok if you want a villa you need to concentrate on Al Mankhool area which is where that hotel is, but pricey and not many villas around, it is apartment land that area. Satwa which is a bit further up to Mankhool. Jafflyia which is parallel to Satwa, then Jumeirah 1 and the Al Wasl area. Areas like the Springs, Meadows, Ranches are going to be a bit of the way although not completely out of the question it just depends how much travelling husband is prepared to do. I think the Springs will be out of your price range now though, sorry. To get from the Springs to the Dhow Palace in the morning will take approx 50 mins.

thought as much, to be honest I don't think you will get a villa anywhere at 150. I am bit out of touch, I have been monitoring apartment prices more than anything else.
