Re: Dubai Gyms
Any paying for the gym never made me go more often..... I just sat on the sofa regretting being so stupid as to pay upfront!

The Warehouse Gym near Mall of the Emirates is good (they've now opened up a smaller branch in JBR but it's a lot smaller) Also Train Strength & Fitness (TrainSF) in Al Quoz is massive and the go-to gym for the international pros when they visit, but it isn't for everyone

Are there any in which there's not a direct (and usually hyperbolic) correlation between "the bigger I am / think I am" and "the greater my right to leave weights just where I was using them and let you scrawny ****ers tidy them up"?

Lol i don't work there. Landmark group initially took out the promotion to family and friends but I am guessing they didn't fulfil the allocations and asked the individual branches to hand them out to close the deal.

Some work expenses on it certainly helps though, I must say.

Re: Dubai Gyms
i pay AED 3k for the gym in my apartment block and that's coz the gym is part of the movenpick hotel - it was 2.400 last year and the gits increased it to 3k this year

I've taken to washing my own car. Saves me a fortune. In gym membership (I'm not very ambitious).

Re: Dubai Gyms
Had to tell a car was attendant several times that I didn't want my car washed yesterday. Really quite irritating.
Went like this:
No thanks mate, it's fine.
No, it's alright thanks.
Doesn't matter how cheap, I have no cash.
No, I won't go to a cash machine and pay you after, I just don't want it washed.
Because I don't give a shit that it's dusty and has rain drops on it.
Please leave me alone. I don't want it washed.

Re: Dubai Gyms
I've been rinsing free trials from a few gyms and thought I would share a few nuggets of info for people looking -
- Fitness Break (Barsha Heights): Quite an old school gym (I think it's owned by an ex-pro bodybuilder). Slightly dated equipment but ok selection of free weights including 1 squat rack. Looks to be more focused on personal training rather than classes. 3500dhs per annum or 50dhs per session
- Golds Gym: Didn't manage to go as there are no free trials, 200dhs for a 'trial session'. I would expect it to be good though given the name.
- Warehouse Gym (Al Quoz): My favourite gym so far, huge warehouse with very good selection of free weights. About 10 squat racks, boxing ring and classes. In the middle of nowhere though so may need to wait for a cab if not driving. About 4000dhs for a year (basic membership)
- Fitness First (Media City): Probably the best 'one size fits all' gym. Bit of everything, is ok but quite busy. Most expensive and I don't see any real benefit in having access to most of their 38 gyms with membership. About 5000dhs per annum or 2099 for 3 months.
More to come!
