Default CDW Insurance for Lease Car

Does anyone lease a car long term in Dubai (or UAE) but purchase CDW insurance separately? If so would be great if you could point me in the direction of some good brokers.

Many thanks

You can get them online for $50 a year..... Well thats what I have for when getting hire cars abroad. Not sure about here. Whats the point tho? Even if its deemed to be your fault the excess is only about 500 AED....

Excess is 1500 AED, however if damaged with no police report then its full cost. CDW company I am leasing off are charging 400 AED per month, where as others are around 250 AED month.

Make sure you get a police report in case of damages - even if it happens when you are not there, eg in a car park. Not difficult to do. 1500aed is still a low excess plus cost of police report 300aed. I'd still take the chance rather than pay a hire company 250aed per month.

You can get CDW insured by companies such as worldwide insure and we do this when we hire cars back home. However the policies are typically limited to 30 or 60 days per hire.

Are you sure you're not talking about excess insurance? CDW is different - in Europe a legal requirement that the rental company provide it - and surely likely to be a lot more expensive for an unlimited annual policy?

Edit: actually reading back I think everybody is talking about insuring the excess not the actual CDW itself....

Second edit: check the small print on your credit cards as you may already have global annual insurance on car hire excess. For example, I think UK AmEx and some Visa Platinum cards offer this as part of their standard benefit package regardless of whether you use the card to pay for the vehicle rental.

I'd change your hire car company. Mine is 500 AED excess if considered your fault.

1,600 AED month all in for my Kia.

As for damage with no Police report..... why would you do that?

Ahhh yes you may be right there.... Its the excess insurance not the CDW itself.

Good luck on arguing that here with most hire companies....
