Best VPN for Saudi?
I availed NordVPN's 3 day trial but it was excruciatingly slow and I'm not too keen on subscribing.
What are better, faster alternatives that you've used around these parts?

speed shouldn't be your number one priority - connectivity should. For example, when I used to use Private Internet Access, their speed was fine. But the BBC was constantly blockign their IPs. When i complained to PIA that I had paid the to maintain an IP that wasn't blocked, they basically said, sorry mate, we can't. That's not a VPN I want to pay for.
Switched to Tunnel Bear and haven't looked back.

You're right about the connectivity vs speed thing.
Tell me, with Tunnel Bear, can you access US content on Netflix? That's a top priority for me.

When you choose a VPN provider, you'll probably be asked where you want the server to be based. I've chosen a UK based one, as it allows access to BBC iPlayer/ ITV iPlayer and Netflix UK etc - everything local restricted to UK
Choosing a US based server won't give you access to BBC iPlayer etc but obviously gives access to Netflix US and so on.
If you're into downloading from torrent sites, its also advisable to connect to VPN, but again, you hit the speed issue.

Certain paid ones (HotSpot Shield) allow you to switch between several locations depending on where you want it to show you are located.

Is HotSpot a paid for service now? Used to be free a few yeas ago...or was that the 'light' version?

HotSpot still has the free version - there's a data cap, and other limitations such no Neflix, etc.
Also, with NordVPN, I tried using US servers to access Netflix but while I could 'see' the titles, clicking play on anything would result in an error message claiming I was using a proxy. Netflix has begun blocking IPs of VPNs because of their licensing agreements which prevents them from making US specific content accessible anywhere else. NordVPN claimed they had a fix for this (specific servers not yet discovered by Netflix etc) but my trial ran out before I could give it a shot.
If Tunnel Bear allows for access to US Netflix, I'll give it a shot.

tunnel bear does tons of locations. Why not fire them a support request to ask as a test to see how long it takes them to respond

I will vouch for that, Tunnel Bear allows you to choose your location, UK, US etc etc, and I have found it by far the better option than a lot out there.

Thanks for the recommendations, folks. Will see if I can get a trial of Tunnel Bear (after my Mobily internet connection woes sort themselves out). Hopefully, I'll be pleased with the service too.

Sign up for free and they give you 500mb a month. this means you can try different servers for different things. works fine here in Philippines for iplayer etc. Get up to 2.5mb download rate which is good for here!

I would not suggest to use free VPN in Saudi Arabia, it will easily be traced and you will be blocked to access any website. Paid VPN is good option ExpressVPN is best but bit expensive if you can pay for expressvpn then I would recommend it otherwise you can check out details of IPVanish and Purevpn that have good protocols and support bestvpnprovider . com / torrent-vpn/.
