Advice on moving to Dubai from Wales
Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise me? My husband who is Syrian has been offered a partnership in Dubai, and we are seriously thinking of taking a chance and going for it. I am just wondering what life might be like for me there. I have a good job in Cardiff and lots of friends, and am a bit reluctant to uproot. However, it's potentially a wonderful opportunity too. My questions are would it be easy for me to get work there if I wanted (currently employed as an Office & Finance Manager), would there be any issues around being British married to an Arab, etc.
Any info/advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers, Sal

It would be easy for you to get work here if you are educated and have good experience. Why not check some of the popular jobs websites which list UAE vacancies (bayt.com, careeremirates.com) and see if you can find something there. There will be no issues about your marriage.

Re: Advice on moving to Dubai from Wales
Hi There
If your hubby has work and you dont have to stress about finding a job immediately - thats fantastic.
We have lived here for 6 years and there definately is work here. I first worked at Compaq Middle East in Operations / Logistics / Order Fulfillment and now I am working as a PA / Tech Assistant in the government. Great hours, perks & pay.
As a British lady with experience I do not think you will have any probs getting work, although you may have to temp on and off initially to get those vital contacts - its not what you know here but rather who you know!
All the best - this is such a great place to live.
