Re: Who is from Yorkshire?
Never known a thread with so many mentions of Redcar!
Hello, I'm not in the US but I am from Redcar - lived there 'til I went to Leeds Poly in 1981 and stayed in Leeds 'til I moved to Singapore in 2002. Been in Sydney Au since 2008.
Go back at least once a year, visiting both Redcar and Leeds (as well as York now I have an adult niece there).
To the poster that used to sled down Grewgrass Lane, my Granddad had a farm at the top end (corner of Sandy Lane) and I lived there for some of my childhood.
Going back in July this year, staying in Saltburn for a change.

Wow you are blowing my mind, that's really close to where I lived, I lived in Beighton
before coming to the states, before that I lived in Wales and went through Todwick everyday on my way to Dinnington High School, my best pal lives in Dinnington and many old freinds live in Kiveton Park...
Worksop, My Mum was born there, I love Worksop such a great little town.
If I mentioned the Red Lion and A57 would that help... lol...
Todwick, what a lovely village.

Haha you were super close then! How long ago did you move? The Red Lion is still there but the A57 has changed a lot.....there's a roundabout there now and a dual carriage way from Aston to the Red Lion Since your Beighton I should mention Crystal Peaks! I had school friends from Beighton too....small world

I'm not sure, there is a pub called something like the millstone, one in the drakehouse part too and then Damon's? There's only a small food court actually inside it now as far as I can remember, its not somewhere i'd go often

I lived 2 minutes walk from what is now Crystal Peaks, My parents had a Spar Shop on that Council Estate just off Drakehouse Lane, back then Crystal Peaks was a Farmers Field, Waterthorpe, Sothall and Westfield were rolling hills as you look over towards Halfway and Killamarsh.
Damons, I've been there a few times over the years, my family and friends always seem to eat a lot there, stuffing themselves with three courses, lol.
They were working on the Red Lion roundabout when I was over the in 2015.
There have been so many new roads built and changes around Beighton, Swallownest and Woodhouse it takes me a while to find my way around, I still Love the area.

My grandma was "from Beighton", according to her, and a proud Yorkshire woman. She was actually born in Wigan....

Re: Who is from Yorkshire?
Sorry, I don't live in the US, but as there aren't many people from Sheffield on the ME forum I've just read this whole thread and been reminiscing.
I was born in Wincobank. Went to Wincobank School, Concord, then Hinde House.
I haven't been back home (yes, home. Dubai will never be home) since my brother got married in 2013.
The things I remember are The Hole int Road and the fish tank, Redgates, Hagenbachs, seeing Father Christmas in Debenhams, C&A, blackberry picking on the train tracks near Arthur Lees, walking on Wincobank Hill, the lido at Rivelin, school Christmas discos at Shiregreen Club, walking to Firth Park with me mum and going to Wincobank & Blackburn WMC with me dad while mum cooked the Sunday dinner.
Ahhh, memories.....
Just one thing to add..... WAWAW!!!

I remember all the places you have mentioned. I lived in Shiregreen from the age of 11 to 18.
