Re: Los Angeles meet up
its not just "Soccer"- Fitba!! its a strong British community that has an interest in sports, drinking and socialising, you would be made to feel very welcome anytime you went in there, that is one of many British Bars that are frequented by Brits all over Orange County.

Re: Los Angeles meet up
So I've been here exactly 8 weeks, and the wife and kids a couple of weeks, so maybe it's time to meet some Brits. Though having said that, one did sell me a printer in Staples a couple of days ago.
I've no idea how these things go - do people just meet up in a bar or something? We have kids in tow so if somebody knows a kid-friendly place I'm all ears! I guess somewhere within several miles of downtown LA to make it central. After all, everybody's got cars, right?!

Re: Los Angeles meet up
Im moving over in April for 3 months, got a CRB check, let me know if u need a babysitter. BritsinLA is ok but is owned by tycoon Xxxxxxx who's sole objective is to make money out of British tourists who come over. Had a run in with him already and Im not even there yet LOL
What part of California will you be coming too? What happened that caused an issue? seems unfair on you.

Ok then he part owns it, either way he ploughs money into it and he also owns <<<snip>>>. Id rather not mention on here but theres a few significant others who have been promised visas by the guy in return for £6000 and did'nt get no visa. Thank god I was'nt one of them. Im coming to Los Angeles, either studio city or Burbank Im a little torn at the moment in deciding which is the the most conveniet audition wise. Would u recommend anywhere?

If so, and again just checking, but you are aware that you can't work at all on it? Which includes babysitting. The rules on working on the VWP are very strict, none allowed at all, so just thought I'd check!
Have fun on your trip.

Remember, you're visiting, not moving.

How's Victorville working for you?
I hate Lancaster, no culture, no heart, the surrounding areas are so unattractive.
This is after I lived in Dana Point but I moved here cause my wife works here. (I work from home office)
Quiet at night though, I do like to see the stars, and I enjoy driving Death Valley and up the 395.
Still, five years then out of here so my wife can get her UK citizenship, and she wants to live near Europe for a spell.

The wife finally has authority to take her NCLEX to become an RN. Hopefully she'll pass that and get a job. Personally I'm hoping it'll be in Kaiser in Fontana and we'll live somewhere near there, Rancho Cucamonga perhaps. Not as expensive as further west (towards LA) and it's nearer jobs for me if my self-employment dries up.
We have visited Lancaster a couple of times, meeting up with friends for the baseball there. Also passed that way once coming home from Moorpark, for a bit of variety. Ever been along CA-18 to Victorville? Has to be one of the most boring roads to drive along from the junction with the CA-138 to Victorville.

Yeah I know the 18, agreed on how boring it is, so's the 138.
I drive a lot, and fly, for my job. Looking forward to moving back to a little cottage in the Trossachs or similar. Just tired of the rush here.
And I miss the life/culture back home.
We'll go for the requisite five years then see how things are. By then we'll have easy flexibility for US or Europe.

Hey Ryan, there is a British Dominion Social Club in Garden Grove. Its has a mebership over more than 1000 people, it has all the soccer games live or on tape delay. They have some bar foods but all your British beer and a lot of Brits to get to know. Send me a private message for more info - I can arrange a met at this location for any number of people.
Thanks, Mark.
Thanks, Mark.
Will try to get up that way at some point soon

Re: Los Angeles meet up
Hi. I am posting in a few places, moved from u.k to ohio last august, now moving from ohio to los angeles in january and need help!!
dont know anyone in la, and really need some help from fellow brits looking for someone who may be available to view rental properties for me, i know its a bit unusual but the cost to fly to la for three days to look at listings is eating away at money needed for the big move.
some of the places i found wont even let me fill an application without seeing the place first or getting someone to see it.
any advice or help. Of course your time and gas will be compensated if you do have time to view. thank you!!!

$500 for one of you to fly here for a scout around could save you more than that by moving to the right place the first time around. If you post something in the main USA forum there are several LA people who can help with general areas and commutes.
