That's probably 90 minutes for us. Not impossible, but needs some planning with the wee wee one.

In a vaguely related direction we've never been to Brazos Bend - is it good?

Any other ideas for a meet before this, I'm free after TXG most weekends!

Ditto for us (its 90 miles). Mini Bink won't sit in a car for 90 minutes if he doesn't sleep a good portion of it. By spring he may be old enough to be occupied by a DVD however.

2nd that for Brazos Bend. Pretty much guaranteed to see a whole load of gators as long as its not too cool. That said, we were there in early September and only saw 1 waay off in the distance. Pretty disappointing.
But there is also a nice little nature center and the rangers always let you have a handle of some baby gators and non-venomous snakes.

OK, so how about a weekend in December - there is something on here every Saturday?

Hello, folks. My adorable husband is in town (yay) on the standard 85-day VWP visit through the end of January while the paperwork creeps through the system. I find I'm dreading his return and how isolated I'll be then (family and friends all live hours away).
I love to cook for people. Maybe a few of you would like to gather for a casual dinner at my place in February? Help me practice some of these lovely recipes in the British cookbooks he bought me as a wedding present? (Yes, cookbooks, and I love them.)
Oh, he just brought me a cup of tea, the angel. Got to go

Don't know what folk are up to today, but we are "unexpectedly" in town instead of skiing in New Mexico. Last minute change - long story. So, we've been looking for things to do the next few days to occupy my own kids and 2 nephews that are (also unexpectedly!) staying with us. Todays little adventure is a trip to the Downtown Aquarium for the kids New Years Eve party (12 hours early). From 11-2 they've got a lunch buffet, kids activities, balloon drop at noon, and an all day adventure pass for the aquarium and the rides outside for $15 which didn't seem too bad. They're repeating it all again 3.30-6.30.
