Default Work contract negotiations in Kuwait

Hello, I'm considering getting a job as a consultant surgeon in Kuwait. The hospital seem interested in my CV and wish to speak to me about terms - what should I consider in this discussion? What is a decent salary for an experienced surgeon? I'm divorced and will be moving alone leaving a house here in the Gower and the NHS politics which I have got fed up of - so will need accommodation for myself, travel allowance and enough leave to come home to see my daughter as often as I can. The main reason why I will consider such a move is obviously financial, so it has to be worth it. Thanks in advance!

Watch out for the periods that you spend in the UK. HMRFC is now taking n interest with a view to getting income tax.

Thanks Scot, I will look into it. Do you know any more about medical job contracts and T&Cs - I'm hoping someone here would be able to advise me. I really don't want to move from Wales unless it is financially much better.

Depends which hospital you will be working and what type of surgeon you are.

I have a friend who is an MD for the army (local) base - he is on approx KWD 2500+ - this is topped up advising outside of hours mainly to the higher ranking officers.

The key consideration is that you should get separate accommodation in your packet - depending where the hospital is you can be looking at 1500KD for a villia or approx 500KD for a 2 bed apartment

Kuwait (and KSA) are still considered a hardship posting so you should get at least a 20% premium for considering the offer.
