Thinking of moving to UAE- help/advice
Hi all
My 1st post, be nice
I have read numerous threads and done as much research as i can, im hoping someone can give me a bit of a pointer on a few things!
Im a 27 year old (male) looking for a change to my life,no kids
I have been a property developer in the UK for the past 4 years and built put a nice portfolio over this period, before that i worked for lloyds tsb for 4 years however I feel it is time to broaden my horizons
Hopefully some one can help me on a few bits and pieces,
1/ What is the situation in the construction industry? jobs/redundancies etc
2/ Best recommended recruitment agency to use??
3/ Im hoping for a package along the lines of 25-30k dhs pm, accommodation flights, how will that stack up for having a good time as well as the day to day essentials
4/ Im hoping, from my research, the jumeirah area seems like the place to stay, I want to be in a area is good for socializing too.
5/ does anyone have any tips for getting that 1st interview?? I have pulled together my cv and am having a agency convert it to "gulf" style.
many thanks in advance i appreciate any help

It seems that you have not done very much research because the reality is that thousands of people are being made redundant and you are very unlikely to find a job in such a market!

Welcome to BE...but yeah, if you've read even a couple of the threads in the jobs and main ME section, you'd realise people are losing jobs left, right and centre and people already there are having a hell of a time finding work so why would any company go to the expense of bringing someone over when they have a massive pool to pick from in their own doorstep?
Good luck if that's what you really want to do though.

Do think, don't move! Can't get simpler than that.

the "having an agency convert it to "gulf" style" worries me a bit... are you actually paying them?! Word to the wise... there's no such thing as "gulf style" CVs, but there a lot of agencies trying to cash in on people wanting a new start.
NEVER pay an agency. They get a very nice commission from the company they place you with - a nice incentive to not just sit on your CV.
To echo the others - by all means think about it, but maybe towards the end of this year. Economies everywhere are still rather wobbly and Dubai in particular is very unpredictable, seeing as the Big Players keep on making seemingly random I'll-just-shoot-myself-in-the-foot moves.
