Re: plasterers
impossible for you mate. What you earn in a day in the UK, an Indian will work a month for.

Re: plasterers
Have you done any research about this region?
Dubai isn't a country for starters and it isn't actually that rich. Some companies and people might have lots of money but that's not the same thing.
I can set out deckchairs if anyone wants to explain further...

Re: plasterers
In the 1970s I remember that there were some British tradesmen in Saudi in the building trades. In the mid to late 1970s they disappeared, to be replaced by much cheaper Filipinos, Indians and Pakistanis.
I think there are no jobs now anywhere in the GCC for British building trades.

Technically speaking a slave wouldn't be paid at all but the salaries for manual work are low as there seems to be an unending demand from people from the Indian sub-continent to take these jobs. The companies then take advantage of that. The wages that seem abysmal to Brits are more than most can earn in their home countries and most send a significant proportion back home to support their families.
It's not nice but that's capitalism for you.
Most Brits here are professionally qualified, experienced in a particular field and/or work in a niche area. Many earned good money in the UK too. Of course there are always a few chancers... *looks around the board*
Anyway, I saw this documentary about plastering once so I am now an expert on that apparently. Who knew?

Mix up the shit a lot thinner than you think would be right. That's the trick.

Re: plasterers
Rates are better here than in India !!!
Had to let one of my chaps go this week and our Indian office wanted to snap him up
At 30% of his Saudi salary
Now that is closer to slavery. Having to live in those horrid slums for **** all rupees and an arsehole Indian boss

Re: plasterers
Dubai would be unbearable if it was polluted by a ruck of plasterers from the north east. Let's keep telling them the rates are shit so they don't come
