Oman package?
Hi, very new!! but looking for some help please?
We are looking to move to the ME and my husband is in the process of completing a 'candidate request for information' form to state what he is looking for as a package for the job. Having search the site we are still unsure what to put? Apart from Full school package/costs.
Is this usual for a company to be asking us to do this?
He is a civil engineer (infrastructure) applying for a contracts manager positions, with 26 years exp, looking to move over with me and our 2 children aged 6 and 4. - already to move just need the job
We dont want to be greed by asking for too much, but we are looking to move for a better lifestyle , save some money, go on holidays.
This is what we are thinking and would like ANY help, advice and suggestions!! thanks
Housing Allowance: would like unfurnished 4 bed villa, to inc rent / elec but not sure what allowance this would entail
Schooling allowance: Full package
Flights: one return business class flight back to UK for each family member in money
Medical: again unsure
Relocation allowance: would this be air and sea freight?
Annual leave: 30 days? he is self-employed at the moment so this would be great!!
Hope I have given enough information to be able to give me some help
Many Thanks

As posted elsewhere: "...as to tactics: never, ever, ever give them a figure--it will only move in one direction from there, and you run the risk of giving them a figure far higher than their expectations that you'll scare them off (ie, they'll think "If he believes he's worth 100 but the max we can go to is 60, and if he does accept, then he'll constantly feel undervalued..."); or if the figure you give them is pretty close, it'll still only shrink and you run the risk of leaving money on the table.
If they want you (or at least are pretty interested), force them to propose a figure, and work up from there. You should know enough about body language to tell when they've reached the point above which they can't go."
As to some of the specifics you asked:
Most companies (and all bloody agents) will ask you what you want--as above, let them make the first offer.
Housing/schooling: seems reasonable. If they're expecting your husband to uproot his entire family, then they should pick up the costs of housing & schooling. Why 4 beds? 1 for the maid?
Flights: most companies don't offer business class flights except for very senior positions. I fly regularly back to UK and economy's usually fine.
Annual leave: 30 days is relatively short, unless public holidays are on top. Might be worth being specific about "travelling days".
Medical: for whole family is a must.
Other things:
Car.
Visa assistance and costs for whole family.
Good luck.

If you're travelling back to UK on leave, do you count the days on which you travel as part of the 30 (or whatever) days leave allowance or not. I guess not so much of an issue if there's only 1 leave per year, but if the number of leave days is tight and/or the number of trips back to UK is high, then it can be an issue.

4 Beds for a family of four is a good move. You will have lots of visitors (especially as you'll be living in Oman!) and the extra room will most definitely come in handy.
You should be fine with around 1200 RO per month for a nice villa in a reasonable area.
