i am a uk qualified electrician with a few years experience on various sites and also worked in the facilities management side of things. there are probably loads of people in my boat posting on here but has anyone got any tips on how best to find work in UAE etc and what chance have i got?

Unfortunately not, been to Dubai twice and going again in February, trying to see if I get a few interviews sorted

40+ years ago there were British electricians working in this region. I think now most of the work is done by Filipinos, Indians or Pakistanis.I hope this is not too pessimistic, and hope that someone else will correct my gloomy outlook.The Scottish electricians who worked near me on contracts in the 1970s were soon after replaced by Filipinos. Much cheaper and less cheeky.

Worth trying though. Look on Gulf Talent, Monster Gulf etc.

All the sparkies on our site last project were Indians on a lot less than UK money. You might have more luck with facilities/higher end/management stuff however. There's often MEPs work about if you've done that. As above, I'd keep an eye on the jobs sites, that's how I got this one. Naukri Gulf is another good one. Good luck.
