Re: Doctor in Qatar??
Incredibly useful this forum! Deeply appreciate the information everyone has been sharing.
I was recently offered a job as a consultant (radiologist) in Doha (Hamad) and the offer was kinda interesting considering the tax free situation. I still have lots of questions regarding the benefits of the package tho. The salary that is usually mentioned here in the post (40-45-and so on), does it count only the basic monthly salary or is this the package (salary + house allowance + transportation)?
I understand that, for many reasons, the package may vary. However, what is the acceptable range for house and transportation allowance?
Thanks in advance!!!

[QUOTE=smarties07;11845835]ambyrulez, is that the basic salary and then other allowances like market allowance / professional allowance / transport etc on top....? If not then comparatively I would say that's not very much.... have you got 5 yr or less post CCT experience? Could that be a factor?[/QUOTE
Hi,I just have 1.5 years of experience! What's the average a pediatrician should ask for according to you?

so your salary is your "take home" income. At the moment other benefits are school fee (21000 QAR/child/annum, THAT MAY B HALF TO 1/3RD OF SCHOOL FEE), Annual tickets to your country etc.

Re: Doctor in Qatar??
Hi all,
I just wanted to thank you all for the vast amount of information on here. As this thread has gone quiet, i thought I'd try to revive it again.
I am a British gp who had an offer from phcc in November, which I initially decline. Due to a change in my circumstances, I contacted the recruitment agency and they confirmed that the offer was still active. I accepted the offer about 2-3 weeks ago and signed the offer letter. The recruitment agency emailed me yesterday saying that all recruitment is on hold and that PHCC will decide which offers to uphold, depending on budgets that will be decided in April or May. Essentially, that the offer is no longer guaranteed.
Previously, it seemed this was mainly happening at HMC. Have any of you with offers from PHCC been told the same thing?
As has been said before on this thread, I will get on with my life. If it's meant to be, it'll happen.

All the recruitment as well as previous offers are on hold at the moment.
Plz plan something different (other than Qatar) for the time being.

Thanks Tihami. After reading all the posts on here, I was aware that it might happen. At least, I haven't made any changes to accommodate this job.
I've been working in another gcc country for the last one year, so realize how fragile job security can be in the Middle East.

Thanks Frog for the update. It really is helpful to hear about peoples individual experiences. Hope it all works out for you in the end.

Hi Smarties07
I visit at the end of the month. Hopefully not just an expensive holiday...!
I've been given reassurances from my contacts withing HMC, however as I do not hold a formal offer of contract I will just need to wait and see what happens after I visit...
I'll keep you posted!

Re: Doctor in Qatar??
The recruitment agency told me that phcc has put everything on Hold and that it may not be until April or May when they will decide what their plans are ie whether they will recruit or withdraw the offer. So I'm not thinking about it for now.
