Hi
If anyone of you is a Doctor in Qatar then please reply. I need to discuss few things before I accept my job as a Family Medicine Dr. in Qatar.
Thanks.

Re: Doctor in Qatar??
I think they have British and American trained doctors, whether the Drs are of British ethnicity, that is a different question.
as per their website

Re: Doctor in Qatar??
I am a GP in UK. I have been offered a job in Qatar, with a relatively good salary, QAR 21000/child for education, and free housing. I am trying to compare my savings / year in Qatar in comparison with UK. But I didn't find any dr. working in Qatar so far..

Simple question is, do the sums work for you? Will you be saving more money than you do at home, will you prefer less hours and a different lifestyle here?
Last point, Someones life could depend on your actions one day - search, search and search some more as to your personal liability should something go wrong - This is one recent case that I can think of but I know there is others.

Personally as a Doc this area of the world would be the last place I would go as there are other factors ranked higher than ethics here...........

I think in all the GCC countries Western doctors are simply not there. You may find Asian and Arab doctors - often with qualifications from the UK, Europe and the US. Salaries in the region cannot match what a GP can earn in the UK.
In the 1990s there were still Western doctors, including specialists, in Jeddah and other cities of KSA. Not now.

Britexpat and Scot. many thanks for your kind replies. The work Ethos are different in MiddleEast I guess, and it may not be an easy working environment.
Scot salary is much better in middle east than a GP can earn in UK. b/c it is tax free there..

There must be a reason there are no western Docs here? The only westerners I know in the medical profession are pen pushers here, they certainly wouldn't get their hands dirty.
