Hello,

I am an assistant quantity surveyor with 3 years experiance looking to relocate in the middle east.

I am 26 and I have a degree in estate management and in my final term of my quantity surveying degree.

I have been considering a move to the middle east for a while. Last year when changing companies I really looked in to it but decided to finish my degree first. Now with the recession taking hold I feel I am ready to move now.

Does anyone work in the construction industry who knows of companies taking on assistant quantity surveyors.

Any help and advice would be welcome, thanks.

I have a friend who started in oman in jan so was hopefull.

Do people have a view on where else is good to work at the moment, if anywhere?

My plan is to work somewere for 5 years (to make money) and relocate somewhere like Australia after.

QS are getting job easier than PM, but all that said there are many QS with Middle East experience looking for work here at the moment. As a junior QS you are competing with Sri Lanka and Indian QS which aren't getting a high salary.
If I have any leads I will PM you - hubby in same business.

I really don't know about making money - it very expense to live here and easy to spend your money

I will confirm that I've got the right organisation but have been told (and if i dont repost here in 48 hours, consider it confirmed) that TDIC are looking to employ HUNDREDS of staff. Im sorry I dont have a contact but I will try to get one.

I will also try to find out if Al Habtoor/Leighton's are looking to employ.

Please dont get your hopes up on me though.
