What about checking bank accounts?
My man in the UK has been hearing that he needs to have so much money
in his bank account before he moves over. I knew that I'd have to show
my income and show that I was above the poverty level, but does he have
to have a certain amount. Do I need to have a certain amount?

No, his bank account balance is irrelevant. It's all up to you to show you earn enough to meet the poverty guidelines on the Affidavit of Support. Yes, you need a certain amount...do a google search for "2006 poverty guideline for immigration". That should give you the minimum amount you will need. He does not need any certain amount at all.

While I agree with Noorah 100%, when it comes to UK citizens migrating to the US on a K-1 visa, the UK citizen can very well financially sponsor theirself on the I-134 if they have the required amount of assets/funds. Perhaps this is what your man was talking about.

The visa we are going for is the fiance visa. I knew about the poverty
guidelines and having to have 125% of that amount, which I make over
that amount. I just didn't know if I needed to have a big amount in
savings or checking accounts. Thanks for the replies!

Nope, you just need to currently earn enough to meet the poverty guideline. As Rete said, your man can also sponsor himself if he has enough....but since you qualify, there's no problem with you doing the I-134.

Re: What about checking bank accounts?
Rete,
If the visa applicant has sufficient financial resources so as to not
need a sponsor for their K visa then I-134 does not come into play?
