Default Warning -- translation of English language documents into English

Heads up people: members of the bar are reporting numerous RFE's and rejections from Service Center of British and Australian birth certificates submitted without translations from English into English.

This is not a joke.

The Minions of the Dark Forces may have a point - Australians don't speak an intelligible form of English.

Not much different to the naturalization interview when we English have to show that we can speak and write English!

How about the UK? The rubric my colleagues are using for these RFE's is "you can't makes this up."

I'm waiting to hear reports on Canadian bilingual docs.

Canadian French is of course not real French.

Sometimes true too, such as Glaswegians, or Yorkshire dialect*, which I can find challenging, and I came from there!

And then there is Welsh.

* Yorkshire dialect is the closest extant derivative of Old English, and retains the singular forms of you and yours, being thee and thine, among other archaic words and grammar, and curiously therefore is similar to the Dutch Friesland dialect.

I hear they use "char" for "car" in Quebec, which is the word for "tank" (tracked vehicle with a gun on top) in France , but then again because the Canadians get many of their cars from the US, they may have a point.

We were married in Wales, so our marriage certificate is bilingual. Fortunately it was accepted without a peep by the Consulate eight years ago.

I see a good money-making option for me here. I will translate your Australian or British birth certificates into English for a fee. Payments accepted in dollars, pounds or Cadbury's (the real one, not the bastardized Hershey one).
