Quick question. I am a UK living in the Middle East with my USC spouse. If we were to file for i130 for me via dcf in London, what kind of a visa would my spouse need for the UK in order to do this (settlement/family/visit etc). I know they removed the 6 month rule and looking for the quickest/cheapest route possible.

In order to file DCF, the USC spouse is supposed to have a status in the UK other than that of visitor. Since this forum (and the original one you posted in) deals with immigration to the USA, you might not find a more detailed answer here. But perhaps someone will come along who knows...

To file DCF, your spouse must be in non-visitor status in the UK... so that means a settlement visa for him. It'll cost about £850 including the medical, and you must also meet the income requirements - but it'll be fairly quick... likely within 3 months.

Thanks, income requirement not a problem. Can we apply for this from outside of the UK - there is a British Embassy in Qatar, or is it a centralized thing?

The settlement visa to the UK must be applied for from outside the UK, yes.

But again, this forum is really not the place to ask these questions.

In order to obtain a settlement visa for the US spouse the UK spouse must sponsor him.

This means fulfilling financial requirements, accommodation and relationship requirements - this is apart from paying for the settlement visa fees.

Basically the UK spouse must show income of 18,600 GBP per annum and/or investment/savings of 62,500 GBP.

It's not just a matter of paying for the visa.

Look in the Moving back to the UK section of this forum. Plenty of advice on there as to how to apply for settlement visa.
