Re: TSC ROLL CALL - N-400 FILERS
Hello All,
Long time avid reader but first time participant. Just sent off my N-400 application to TSC (Miami Field Office) based on 3 years as a PR married to a Citizen. Here is my timeline so far:
4/30/2008 - Application Mailed
5/5/2008 - Application arrived at TSC
5/7/2008 - Check cashed - Shock! Horror! Disbelief!
According to the USCIS website Miami's timeline for N400 processing is about 12.5 months, so am settling in for the long haul. Of course I am still biting my nails in case I forgot something or put the papers in the wrong order or they don't like my photographs or I miscalculated the dates or something.... will keep everyone posted on how things go.
In the meantime, thank you for the invaluable advice, tips and moments of hysterical laughter over the last few years. This site has been part of my daily reading for a long time now and I am delighted to finally have something of worth (hopefully) to contribute.
Anyone have any useful insights into how the Miami office works (apart from really, really slowly :-) )?
Thanks in advance!

Just to update my husband's timeline:
Nov. 11 2007 - N-400 sent to TSC
Nov. 14 2007 - N-400 received by TSC
Dec. 31 2007 - Check cashed
Dec. 31 2007 - NOA received
Jan. 25 2008 - Biometrics appt in Louisville, KY
Apr. 02 2008 - Interview noticed received
May 08 2008 - Interview in Louisville, KY - Approved!!
He was told that it could take up to 3 months for the ceremony. However, another guy going for his interview at the same time was told 2 months. And this other guy's wife had her interview at the end of March, and she was still waiting for the ceremony. So who knows how long it will actually take for the ceremony.

One things for sure, I wish I was filing at that backwater Louisville!
Seems to be taking about half the time as Tampa......

Re: TSC ROLL CALL - N-400 FILERS
Yeah, we're such a backwater that we're, like, the 16th largest city in the US. When it comes to all the dealings with USCIS, I'd rather be in a backwater than an extremely popular city.
Kidding aside, the OH was told that there is a 3mo wait for the ceremony because there is a huge backlog of people. I would think the backlog would be for people waiting to be interviewed, not for the ceremony. I don't understand why they just don't rent out an auditorium somewhere in the city and have a large ceremony to get everyone done at once.

Actually, I was wondering the same thing - surely, of all the parts of the process, that would be the one you could dramatically improve on, you'd have thought.
