Default More documents for US passport

Hi again, could someone please help us? My fiancé today had his interview at the London embassy for his US passport. We had every document we were asked to submit. At the embassy everything was going great until they noticed a stamp in his passport for June 2001, they have now said he needs to prove he was in the US between march and April 2001! Does this really make a difference? He had paperwork to prove he lived there for 12 years but they need something for this 1 month.
We can't find any information about needing to prove this along as it was before his 18th birthday.( his birthday was in may).

Thanks Janet

I guess it makes a difference, if they say they need it, and your FI wants the passport.

It's pretty impossible to tell from your post here the whys & wherefores of the additional request.

If he charged his flight, go back to the credit card company and see if he can find the charge for it.

Yes but we have read all the law on this matter and his dad is a retired lawyer too, and there is nothing about providing documents for 18 years! The thing is he went to England at the end of may 2001 and his passport was stamped as returning on the 11th June 2001, can u honestly say that because he went on holiday for 2 weeks he's lost his citizenship? He even has college certificates to show he lived there after 2001. Help please

How can we help?

You can go back through your old posts, or maybe just do it from looking at the file of papers you have collected... what is the issue?

Your case is complicated. Not everyone has the inclination to go through your old threads to find out what the problem is. I understand you are upset right now, but it doesn't have to be solved in 10 minutes.
Cheer up, it's usually just a matter of collecting more papers.

Sorry I apologize, it's been very stressful. We were hoping someone knew if we had to prove that 1month. We are going to call his old school tomorrow to see if they have anything that could confirm things for him.

Maybe on the flip side, try to gather evidence that the time outside the USA was specifically a short term vacation. I know the stamps in his passport show how long he was gone, but any other documentation showing why he visited at that time, who he visited, etc. Just guessing here.

Again, I suggest that if the CO says you need it, you must need it.

Sorry to hear that. With hindsight, consulting a lawyer may not have been a bad idea after all.

Was he trying for Child Citizenship Act? That started in Feb 2001. If he was an LPR, he needed to be residing with a USC parent in the US between Feb 27, 2001, and the time he turned 18 to qualify for citizenship per CCA 2000.

Wouldn't he have been at school?

Yes he was trying for the child citizen act. He has proof he was in the us between them dates apart from the 2weeks he was in England visiting family. That's our problem, a uk passport doesn't get stamped when leaving the USA just returning.

If I were you, I'd contact both the school and the airline, and at the same time get advice from a lawyer (preferably not just any lawyer, but one who has dealt with CCA cases before).

Perhaps a FOIA/Privacy Act request to CBP to see if they have any information about the comings and goings would be worth a shot.

A good general legal principle: "Don't fight City Hall." Of course, there are exceptions.
